To me it sounds like the installer has corrupted files. Have you tried redownloading WLDM? Another solution might be System Restore?

Hi,
I just upgraded to build 5456 and got the same EXACT error messages, same problem and not seeing a solution. I'd like to go check the beta newsgroups on this, but Windows Mail not working :)
Suggestions? Anyone?

Hi, I get the same error. I have beta2 5384. All I did was to stop using the Windows Mail and Download Thunderbird.
They have decided that they will continue the only 2 error messages OE produces in WinMail.
Neither is accurate, but those are the catchalls when WinMail or OE can't start.
The problem is most likely the message store in those instances (permissions issues or corruption). You can move all the files out of the default mail location (%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\) and they WinMail should start okay. You can then drag the eml files from the moved directory to WinMail folders to reincorporate them.

Just make a directory anywhere that gives you permission to do so. Then move all the files under the Windows Mail directory to that directory. Then try restarting WinMail and see if it will run okay. If you had messages before, they will be in the directory to which you moved the files under directories named for the folders. You can then drag those eml files back into WinMail or OE.

Hello,
I am receiving the same error message when opening up a MS Word document. I do use Windows Mail or OE - any suggestions?
Thank you.

Oh I do not know what to do next. I have tried to follow this lead and do the steps accordingly...I still can not get into my Windows Mail. says the box is full then missing MSOE.DLL... 1st I went to the site and downloaded Scxout.DLL and WMUlti....then I had someone send the MSOE.DLL... next I completely uninstalled the Norton on my computer...and it is still off. I restarted several times & tried again...still the same message. Am I missing a step or something? I am not great with computers but not exactly a novice either. I can get messages thru embarqmail.com or earthlink.net still so let me know if you can help me. I can not believe all the people who are having this same problem. At least does not make me see so slow.. I did have the SPY DR also downloaded to remove a Trojan I received some way, but have uninstalled that now too. I have used Win Mail since I bought this new computer in Feb and it has worked great. I think the spy Dr thing did something but not sure. I am getting the same message as the others. I also saw someone say that there was an upgraded improvement to Win Mail in May? Would it be something automaticly sent to me as an update? Thanks in advance

Sounds like your Windows Mail has been corrupted by Norton and/or SPY DR. I recommend you abandon Windows Mail and install the new and improved Windows Live Mail: http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas

Hi there, I'm having the same problem, tried all the solutions on here to no avail. The suggestion you gave is no good as Windows won't allow you to delete WM. I'm gonna try what someone else suggested and go with Thunderbird :(

Nicolino,
I'm sorry to hear that. It would not let you delete the contents of the Windows Mail folder? Did it give you any messages?

I have a similiar problem. I installed office 2007 home & student and I get the message that windows mail is not installed properly, when I try to open from my contact list it just keeps opening screens for explorer and tells Wmail is not installed correctly. It was fine before I added Office. It does not ask me for a default. -- thanks, tipper
